DBF-TRZ is a high triplet energy exciton, electron transport type, exciton blocking material primarily developed for blue PHOLEDs to effectively block hole carriers. DBF-TRZ features an electron rich dibenzo-[b,d]furan center unit and two electron deficient 4,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-triazine moieties. With a high triplet energy above 2.8 eV, known to enhance the external quantum efficiency (EQE) of the blue phosphorescent devices by more than 40% while maintaining operational stability of the devices.
Also, the high triplet energy material has been used in hyper OLEDs to confine the triplet exciton of the MR-TADF dopant materials to achieve narrow green emission band with an LT95 of over 3000 h at 1000 cd m−2. Electroplex formed between 4,4′-di(9H-carbazol-9-yl)-1,1′-biphenyl (CBP) and DBF-TRZ is engaged as a universal host in red, yellow, green, and blue PhOLEDs for improved efficiency and lifetime.
* Sublimation is a technique used to obtain ultra pure-grade chemicals, see sublimed materials for OLED devices.
