T3PyTRZ is electron transport layer or hole blocking layer material that is applicable for highly efficient blue and green phosphorescent and TADF OLEDs. T3PyTRZ is highly electron deficient consisting of tetrapyridine and triphenyltriazine moieties. The pyridine units can form multiple intermolecular hydrogen bonding rendering high crystallinity. The triphenyltriazine moiety has relatively large π-plane and easily forms π-π stacking, another contributing factor for the hight crystallinity of T3PyTRZ.
T3PyTRZ is known for its ability to reduce the driving voltage and enhance the operating lifetime and stability of OLED devices as ETL, normally doped by 8-hydroxyquinolinolato lithium (Liq).
Green phosphorescent OLED based on the benchmark phosphorescent emitter Ir(ppy)3 as the active layer and T3PyTRZ as the electron transport layer realized a relatively low turn-on voltage (Von) of 2.18 V at 1 cd m-2, an external quantum efficiency of over 24%, a power efficiency of over 115 lm W-1, and an impressive long lifetime (LT50) of 30,000 hours at a high brightness of 1000 cd m-2. Even at 1000 cd m-2. Also, when DIC-TRZ is used as the host for Ir(ppy)3, low-power-consumption OLEDs with high operational stability and low turn-on voltage of 2.88 V At a high brightness of 1000 cd m-2 is achieved, 0.9 V lower than mCBP host.
T3PyTRZ has also been used in high color purity high performance hyperfluorescence OLEDs to to reduce the driving voltages and improve the stability.
