Hex-Ir(phq)3, tris[2-(4-n-hexylphenyl)quinoline)]iridium(III), has three phenylquinoline ligands chelated to the iridium center. Different to Ir(phq)3,The hexyl chain attached to the benzene ring makes Hex-Ir(phq)3 highly soluble in common organic solvents for easy device fabrication and large-area solution processing, i.e. spin-coating or inkjet printing.
Hex-Ir(phq)3 is a phosphorescent orange to red emitting and slight red-shifted in emission while compared to Ir(phq)3.
