Single crystal NMC631 (CAS 346417-97-8) is a mid-nickel cathode material engineered to deliver an optimal balance of energy density, thermal stability, and long-term durability. Compared to high-nickel NMC materials, this powder offers enhanced thermal stability and extended cycle life. Additionally, it provides higher energy density than low-nickel NMC compositions, making it an ideal "performance-stability balance" material. Unlike conventional polycrystalline cathodes that form secondary agglomerated particles, single crystal NMC631 consists of discrete, robust primary particles. The absence of internal grain boundaries significantly reduces microcracking during cycling.
This material also demonstrates excellent thermal compatibility with solid-state electrolytes such as LLZTO, maintaining structural phase integrity at temperatures up to 1000 °C. In all-solid-state lithium batteries (ASSLBs), single crystal NMC631 powder exhibits reduced capacity loss of 48%, attributed to improved interfacial stability.
