Lithium vanadium phosphate (CAS number: 84159-18-2) is a cathode active material for lithium-ion batteries, commonly known as LVP. The structure of lithium vanadium phosphate is composed of octahedral VO6 and tetrahedral PO4, forming a sodium super ionic conductor (NASICON) framework. This NASICON structure ensures high structural stability and interconnected 3D channels for good ion mobility.
LVP operates through V3+ – V4+ redox reaction and sometimes V4+ – V5+, allowing a maximum operating voltage of 4.8 V. Thanks to its robust structure and high redox potential, LVP can achieve a high energy density of 2330 mWh/cm3. LVP also demonstrates excellent cycling performance, retaining 97.37% of its capacity after 50 cycles at 200 mA/g.
